Finding my way

Well, I had a couple of days where I was improving and that’s good. I got a phone call to come in and see Dr. Guzman early and thought that was a good idea since I seem to have trouble with the moves he gave me to do.

Looking Back Since the Surgery

I decided to phone Dr. Gul and just chat with the secretary to see if I had something to worry about or not. Let’s face it, I don’t know anything except the way I feel. I suspect that there is nothing that can be done but it will be nice to hear that from someone that knows.

Still Having Problems

So I don’t know what is going on but I’ve been having a tough time. I spent most of the time standing or lying down because sitting hurt. I also iced quite a bit.

Sohiel was here today cleaning and I did what I could. Perhaps that was too much. I slept for an hour and my body was really tired.

Up and Down, The Yo-Yo Syndrome

Woke up feeling pain in my leg and hip. I had trouble walking yesterday and Bill noticed it in the house. I’m not sure what is going on.

We got up at 4:45AM. I was having trouble sleeping because of my hip and Bill is still having trouble getting used to day shift instead of graveyards.

I went for my walk just after Bill left for work at 7AM. Very soon after starting both my hips starting giving me trouble. I ended up walking a short 20 minutes and that was too much. I was hoping to get all my walk in (an hour) because it’s going to start raining very hard in a little while.

I got home and took 2mg dilaudid but that didn’t help. I’m getting up and down a lot. Basically I’m doing some computer stuff and then going into the kitchen and doing stuff there. Making Bill’s lunch, preparing dinner. We’re having Shepherd’s Pie tonight if I can get all the carrots and potatoes peeled. Otherwise we’ll have roast chicken and I’ll finish the shepherd’s pie then.

That’s basically how the

Record of Exercise Nov 10/07

I was able to walk for an hour and went without my crutch. Sometimes I find that my shoulder and hand bother me when I use the crutch on a longer walk. The walk was okay beginning to end but I had to go slowly.

I was going to go for a walk after my afternoon nap but was too tired.

I did my exercises three times and added some balance on one leg and some shoulder, arm and hand stretches.

Don’t Give Up

I am very happy to say that after 3 weeks of working from 11:30PM – 8:00AM Bill is finally back on days. That’s just for two days and then he’s on night shift (3PM-1AM). It has been very difficult with Bill the graveyard shift because he’s sleeping all day.

A Little Progress and Exercise

Today was good day. Spent the day doing some photo work on the computer and resting. I went for my walk in the morning for about 50 minutes and after my nap I did another 20 minutes. It was sunny out and it felt good just to be outside. It was a stroll then a walk the second time.

I did my exercises three times and added some arm, shoulder and hand yoga. I also did a bit of pilates from the spine care series and it all felt good. I added a balance posture for 30 sec each leg.

Record of Exercise Nov 8/07

I walked 45 minutes with my crutch (thanks Joan!). Too long. Don’t know what to do some days. Get tired of moving forward and2  backward.

Did my yoga and pilates 3 times. A general bad day but being stubborn because sometimes I need to feel proactive instead of reactive.

Difficult Times

Recovering from surgery is a constant process of ups and downs. When I feel great, I think that the road to recovery is getting shorter. But that is not how it happens.

I must have twisted a bit when I slept last night and I awoke in pain. I had hoped that just being up and moving would work things out. I went for my walk with my crutch but by the time I got home I was in quite a bit of pain.
