Recovering from a L5/S1 Microdiscectomy

On March 23 I had an MRI of my thoracic and lumbar spine. I paid privately for the MRI because I was in a lot of pain. I am 53 years old and had been enjoying a new career as a pilates and yoga teacher for about two years before I was sidelined with pain. At that time I was in top condition, had opened my own studio and was really enjoying myself. I thought the less time there was before some kind of decision was made regarding my back pain the less conditioning I would lose.

I’m glad my husband and I made that decision because we were astonished and horrified to find out how bad my osteoarthritis had become. There central spinal stenosis and narrowing on both sides of the neural foramina in all of the lumbar spine along will disk protrusions in the lumbar,  5 of the thoracic vertebra and one of the cervical.
